Although Mill Race Village was a 30 minute drive, it was definitely worth it. I hadn’t even heard of the village before, and when I got to experience and document my experience through pictures, it was very rewarding. This gave me an opportunity to get involved in the culture around me and in the counties around me (Mill Race Village was in Northville, in Wayne County). Also, I decided to go to the site later in the day, rather than in the afternoon, and this had an effect on my pictures. I had been working on my research for photography techniques and found out that different times of day create different colors and softness in pictures. I experimented with this and went to Mill Race Village at dusk instead of the late afternoon, and it had a larger effect than I expected. The colors were more vibrant and made the pictures stand out more. In the end, I was very impressed with the outcome of my pictures and they had definitely improved from the last trip (this was caused by the research that I did, which helped me learn even more about photography).
